Make Your Goal be Getting a Job You Love

“Pure joy!”  “Enriching!”  “Absolutely wonderful!”   Those are a few of my reactions as I watched and listened to last night’s performance of Broadway Rocks, a Seattle Symphony special performance with four Broadway vocalists. It was lead by New York City Pops conductor, Steven Reineke, who playfully directed the Orchestra reacting to each of the show tunes music. His own passion for Broadway music was delightful to watch. His enthusiasm light up the stage.

broadwayrocks_2The four vocalists don’t just “sing” their songs, they re-enacted their show performances. The vitality, the emotional movement of the words, the exquisitely trained voices – pure ecstasy to watch.  These people simply love Broadway musicals and performing. Their performances transported the listener into a truly blissful experience.  It was enormously entertaining and wonderful for me to sit there and observe these 5 people work who obviously love their jobs so much.

You can’t fake that kind of passion. But when it’s real, and you do work that makes your heart sing – there is an inner happiness that comes out because nothing beats performing a job you truly love.
