Congress Argues – and you still need help finding a new job

I’m pretty disgusted with Congress –arguing over this healthcare bill with 9,000 special interest ties inside it like better deals for pork belly buyers – WHAT ABOUT cleaning up the bill and only putting health care initiatives in it? Congress never worked that way, won’t now, and never will.

Too bad…..they could learn a lot from today’s GOLD MEDAL USA vs Canada hockey match.

The picture of the goalie to the left is my 12 yr old son Jack. Hockey is a family passion. We watched the final Olympic game, and the USA players may have lost the gold medal in Overtime, but as a team, they played phenomenally well.Sidney Crosby sneaked that goal in at the end and all of Canada screamed, and hey so did a lot of Americans who just love this hockey player. Sidney Crosby has a passion for playing this game that is sincere and genuine.

As we watched this nail-biting game, one fact became obvious. Although both teams were full of NHL stars, yet there was no grandstanding. No one person was pushing to standout alone. These men played this game as a team proudly representing their. They played together in sync as a TEAM because they each knew it was the only way to win.

Ok, so I have to ask, why can’t Congress learn from them?

Congressman and Senators care too much about their own petty pork belly causes and no where near enough about fixing healthcare or this dreadful economy. That’s why Congress keeps losing at every thing they are doing – they don’t work as a solid TEAM for the good of the whole country. There’s just too much “ME – ME- ME” for this Congress to get anything done that’s going to actually help the everyday American’s life get better.

Job Search Tip..Take the Interview Readiness QUIZ

How did you do? If you weren’t acing the test then begin by polishing your interview skills. Start the interview in the best possible way: when the interviewer asks the, ‘Tell me about yourself’ question, forget an autobiography. Use the 60 Second Sell.  This technique has you analyze the job duties the employer wants accomplished, then select your top five selling points — your strongest abilities, any significant accomplishments, experience and skills that demonstrate that you can do the job.  Link these five points together in a few sentences and you have created a ‘verbal business card’ that is the most effective way to begin and to close the interview. My clients have said that this technique was the factor that helped them land the job.
